    Managed and assisted with the $65 million property renaissance to provide technology solutions that enhanced opportunities in providing a rich guest room and Hawaiian culture experience. Designed and deployed secure, yet scalable network solutions for Huihui, the hotel's new signature restaurant. Provided a platform to host Building Management system to provide a visual representation and status of all equipment.

    Deployed Veeam Backup & Replication software to simplify backup management, increase Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) / Recovery Point Objects (RPO) and complement VMware with image-based backups and replications. Integrated with VMware vSphere and HPe Nimble SAN to improve availability and seamlessly maintain the 3-2-1 rule of backups.

    Undertook a complete modernization of the outdated analog security video system. Implemented a centralized, network-based video security solution utilizing FortiRecorder, FortiCameras, Nimble Storage Area Network, and Juniper PoE switches.

    Upgraded the previous Firewall, Web Filter, and Spam Filter security solutions with a unified Fortinet system. Implemented an advanced next-generation firewall solution using Fortinet technologies, including IPS, Web Filtering, Email/Spam Filtering, WAP, SSL inspection and sandboxing. Consolidated Barracuda Web Filter and Sonicwall firewall into a single management interface through FortiOS solutions.

    Data Center Virtualization (Phase 2)

    Overview

    Implemented Phase 2 of the server virtualization to address issues with End-of-Life software and hardware. VUtilized virtualization technology to optimize IT infrastructure capabilities and eliminate physical limitations. Designed a solution that provides server redundancy using VMWare and a centralized SAN to provide instant VM and data snapshots, as well as array-based replication for improved disaster recovery with Nimble's Cache Accelerated Sequential Layout (CASL) architecture. FReduced data center footprint by fully virtualizing all physical servers.

    Overview

    Deployed PSMS Secure Payment Solution (SPS) and integrated Shift4 True P2PE and 4Res to provide a simple, seamless, and secure payment solution that is PCI-validated. With SPS, sensitive cardholder data is not stored in memory or within the application, reducing overall PCI scope. The solution also introduced support for EMV, NFC, and Apple Pay processing capabilities.

    Network Overhaul and Redesign: Two-tier Hierarchical Network Model

    Overview

    Undertook a comprehensive redesign and upgrade of the flat-network infrastructure to handle the growing number of network devices, such as EMV and IP security cameras. Adopted a two-tier hierarchical network design (collapsed core) that offers high availability switching (Virtual Chassis/LACP) and network segmentation utilizing VLANs to isolate and manage access to sensitive traffic, thereby reducing overall PCI scope. The infrastructure is designed to be scalable, allowing for easy replacement of 1GbE to 10GbE optics, making it future-proof for potential increased bandwidth requirements.

  • Redesign network infrastructure network wiring to eliminate daisy chained switches and single point of failures. Create visual diagram which maps cable runs and switch locations throughout the property.
  • Establish network cable naming and labeling standards to easily identify switch port connections, uplinks, and network traffic type. De-cluttering of data center and switch locations.
  • Core switch configurations including but not limited to virtual chassis, link aggregation, vlans, intervlan routing, dhcp-relay, firewall filters, and port security.
  • VMware network infrastructure migration from vSphere Standard Switch (vSS) to vSphere Distributed Switch (vDS) utilizing Load Base Teaming (LBT) and Network I/O Control (NIOC) to ensure bandwidth flexibility, avoid any single point of failure in the network, isolate and prioritize specific traffic types, and simplify management.
  • Network migration of servers, workstations, printers, and other devices in strategic phases to minimize downtime.

    Overview

    Implemented server virtualization to address issues with outdated software and hardware. The virtualization technology was selected to eliminate physical limitations and optimize IT infrastructure capabilities. The solution includes server redundancy using VMWare and a centralized SAN that allows for instant VM and data snapshots for improved disaster recovery using Nimble's CASL architecture. Reduced the data center footprint by more than half and minimized overall IT costs by eliminating hardware vendor lock-in.

  • VMware clustering, VMware Distributed Resource Scheduling (DRS), and resource pools tier creation for redundancy and continuous balancing of ESX host workloads.
  • Windows 2008 R2 Server Remote Desktop Services farm sizing and implementation to provide high availability workstations for 100+ users using centrally managed Wyse thin clients. User state customization and restriction through group policy configuration and registry modifications. Consolidated five EOL department terminal servers onto one dual node terminal service farm.
  • Windows 2012 File server high-availability cluster deployment utilizing iSCSI SAN with deduplication for hotel-wide data and user state virtualization. Redesigned and simplified file share architecture with Role-based security. Server replaced existing Windows 2003 EOL file server.
  • Migration of numerous critical application servers to clustered ESXi hosts. Rigorous testing and debugging to ensure server stability and optimized performance.

    Public facing web application for the Cricket Crawl DC Baltimore Area community for measuring, censusing, and accounting for the status or health of the cricket and katydid populations. Application features real time data mapping of cricket and katydid sightings which can be submitted via Twitter mobile application, Google Voice transcription, and secured manual entry. Data array consisting of an image, geolocation, sound, and species description can be exported in JSON, CSV format using UMongo GUI app.
